Chardonnay *** trocken - KnipserThe Knipser Chardonnay is the barrique miracle from the Knipser estate. This top-class white wine from the Palatinate comes into the glass with a delicate golden yellow and reveals from the very first moment very opulent, yet never excessively rich notes of tropical fruits such as guava and banana, lemon zest, ripe mirabelle plum, Williams pear and other yellow fruits. Spicy notes from the barrique such as almond and roasted hazelnut, as well as fine butter caramel and a hint of brioche, round off the bouquet of this top wine to perfection. On the palate, despite its full body, the Chardonnay from Knipser reveals great freshness, which is primarily thanks to its vibrant acidity. An almost Burgundian elegance, such as in Germany is otherwise only achieved by the top winemakers of Baden, distinguishes this splendid Knipser Chardonnay. Wonderfully grippy and velvety-soft on the finish. Vinification of the Chardonnay from Knipser The grapes for the Dreistern Chardonnay grow in a genuine VDP top site, the Großkarlbacher Burgweg. The sub-site “Im Grossen Garten” with its limestone soil creates perfect conditions for excellently ripened grapes. After the late and highly selective hand harvest of perfectly luscious grapes, they are brought immediately to the winery. After maceration and pressing, the Chardonnay from Knipser ferments in new barriques made of French oak. It then remains for another 6 months in barrique on the full lees, which are stirred regularly. Food recommendation for Knipser Chardonnay This dry, powerful white wine from Germany is a wonderful companion to fine seafood such as lobster, Norway lobster or langoustines.
