Bolgheri Rosso DOC Grattamacco - ColleMassari

In Bolgheri, the vineyards, which are located at around 100 m above sea level, look out over the nearby Mediterranean. Bolgheri, which is anything but simple, is not inferior to the top wine Grattamacco, as the considerable price difference would suggest. The grapes ferment here in conical wooden vats. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot and 10% Sangiovese. Matured in 2- and 3-year-old wood. Deliberately on the fruity side, but with wonderful complexity: cassis, tobacco, prunes. The fine-grained tannins also contribute to this wine melting delightfully on the tongue.
