Breisgau - Weingut Bernhard Huber

Breisgau - Weingut Bernhard HuberBreisgau - Weingut Bernhard HuberThe Breisgau – Weingut Bernhard Huber presents itself in the glass with a clear, gleaming straw yellow and fine greenish reflections – a visual opening that promises freshness and elegance. This cuvée of Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris reveals a finely nuanced play of aromas, opening with ripe yellow fruits such as pear, apple compote and mirabelle. Elegant notes of honeydew melon join in, along with a hint of candied citrus fruit and a delicate touch of roasted hazelnut. In the background, subtle floral accents resonate – white blossoms and a hint of linden blossom lend lightness and sophistication to the bouquet. On the palate, the Breisgau – Weingut Bernhard Huber cuvée is wonderfully harmonious with gentle melt and a balanced structure. The creaminess of the Pinot Blanc meets the juicy richness of the Pinot Gris. Aromas of baked apple, quince and a touch of vanilla unfold in the mouth and are carried by a fine, animating acidity. The finish shows a subtle spiciness – a hint of almond and a hint of toasted wood provide depth and length. The aftertaste is long, clear and marked by minerality, with elegant persistence and balanced freshness. This wine appeals to all the senses – a masterpiece for lovers of Burgundian white wine craftsmanship. Vinification of Breisgau from Weingut Bernhard Huber This cuvée of Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris comes from carefully tended sites in sun-drenched Breisgau. The region is among the warmest winegrowing areas in Germany and offers ideal conditions for Burgundy varieties. The vineyards of Weingut Bernhard Huber are characterized by weathered limestone soils, which lend the grapes a distinctive minerality. The vines are cultivated in a near-natural manner – with consistent canopy management, yield reduction and selective hand harvesting. Only fully ripe and sound grapes make their way into the cellar. After a short maceration time, the berries are gently pressed. Fermentation takes place with temperature control in stainless steel tanks as well as in used barriques, in order to clearly bring out the terroir and the grape varieties. Part of the maturation takes place on the fine lees with regular stirring (bâtonnage), which gives the wine depth, structure and a fine creaminess. After several months of aging on the lees, the cuvée is assembled, lightly filtered and bottled with great care. The result is a white wine with precise expression, clear stylistic profile and Burgundian elegance.
