Galloni 90:Opaque ruby. Ripe red and dark berries, anise, mocha and woodsmoke on the fragrant nose. At once juicy and broad on the palate, offering gently sweet blackberry and plum flavors sharpened by a peppery nuance. Dusty tannins sneak in late on the long, dark fruit-driven finish, which leaves a subtle note of vanilla behind. -- Josh Raynolds Suckling 93:Suckling 93:Very pretty, balanced red with lead-pencil, berry and floral character on the nose and palate. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Refined and clean. Drink now. Parker-Luis Gutierrez 92:The 2011 Numanthia is a powerful and concentrated Tempranillo with abundant aromas of peat, tar, shoe polish and ripe dark fruit with hints of minerality and a marked earthiness. The palate is warm, with noticeable alcohol that seems to coat the tannins while the acidity is barely enough to provide freshness for such an amount of glycerol. With time, the aromas are clearly from the barrel: dark chocolate, espresso coffee and toasted bread. XXL for sure, for fans of the style. Drink 2015-2019.
