Suckling 93: Wonderful aromas of blueberry, mineral, blackberry and sliced shiitake mushroom. Full body, chewy but polished tannins and a pretty combination of fruit and acid. Better in 2016. Wine Spectator 90:Rich and firmly structured, with dense tannins supporting the black cherry and blackberry flavors. Spice and mineral accents add interest while this stays firm and energetic on the finish. Best from 2016 through 2023. 2,915 cases made. Parker-Monica Larner 91:A blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc, the 2011 Bolgheri Superiore Argentiera peels back with luscious layers of dark spice, plum and black cherry. Toasted oak notes also play a prominent role on the bouquet and the wine needs more time to fully integrate. The 2011 vintage shows soft, sun-ripened tannins. The big news from Tenuta Argentiera is the release of a new wine, the 100% Cabernet Franc Lavinia Maria. It shows a good first effort, but I hope to see more from this expression in the years to come.
