In the glass, this wine shines in a light gold with glittery golden highlights. The nose enjoys an intense and lush bouquet. Aromas of fresh grapefruit, floral notes of chamomile and apple blossoms and hints of exotic spices are revealed. On the palate, the flavors of the nose develop into yellow peaches, poached pears and ripe nectarines. More in the background are the notes of fresh tangerines and green figs. The acidity is very well integrated into the full body. Both the acid structure and the aromatic richness give this South African white wine a wonderful complexity. The pleasantly long finish with spicy nuances of fenugreek and black cardamom round out this white wine perfectly. Vinification of the Boekenhoutskloof Semillon The Semillon grapes grow on one of the oldest vineyards in South Africa. The alluvial soils there have a high clay content. Other grapes come from two plots in the Franschhoek Valley. Once the berries arrive at the Boekenhoutskloof winery, the grapes are whole cluster pressed and the resulting must is spontaneously fermented in classic barriques and concrete eggs. At low temperature, this white wine is aged in barriques for 14 months.
