La Retro Vin Rouge - Domaine LafageLa Retro from Domaine Lafage in Roussillon presents a brilliant purple color in the glass. Poured into a Bordeaux glass, this Old World red wine offers wonderfully complex aromas of blueberry, blackberry, mulberry and black currant, rounded out by dark chocolate, garrigue and vanilla. On the palate, Domaine Lafage's La Retro opens delightfully dry, grippy and aromatic. Some wines are dry, others bone dry. This red belongs to the latter, as it was bottled with just 1.9 grams of residual sugar. Light-footed and multifaceted, this dense, velvety and silky red wine presents itself on the palate. Due to its present fruit acidity, the La Retro reveals itself wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this red wine from the wine-growing region of Roussillon finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of black currant and blackberry. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the slate-dominated soils join in. Vinification of the Domaine Lafage La Retro The elegant La Retro from France is a cuvée vinified from the grape varieties Carignan, Grenache and Grenache Gris. In Roussillon, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of slate. After the hand harvest, the grapes arrive quickly at the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Then fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Once fermentation is complete, La Retro can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for a few months.... Food recommendation for the La Retro from Domaine Lafage This red wine from France is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompanying wine to cod with cucumber-mustard vegetables, duck breast with sugar snap peas or osso buco.
