Vinification of the GR-174 Priorat from Casa Gran del Siurana The basis for the powerful GR-174 Priorat from Catalonia are grapes from the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cariñena and Garnacha. In Catalonia, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of slate. Moreover, the grapes of this top wine of Casa Gran del Siurana do not grow in the lowlands, but dig their roots into the subsoil in steep slopes. The steep slope cultivation ensures that even in cooler regions with shorter growing seasons, the vines receive a maximum of sun. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the pressing house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. After its end, the GR-174 Priorat is aged for another 12 months in oak barriques.
