Inzolia Sicilia DOC - Sallier de La TourThe Inzolia Sicilia DOC from Sallier de La Tour by Tasca d'Almerita is a brilliant straw yellow in the glass. The bouquet impresses with very typical Sicilian aromas of orange blossom and almonds, as well as meadow flowers, culinary herbs and melon. On the palate, the Inzolia is fresh, fruity, full-bodied and well-structured, with a delicate almond note in the long finish. Vinification of the Inzolia Sicilia DOC from the Sallier de La Tour winery The grapes for this Sicilian white wine made from 100% Inzolia grow in the vineyards of Monreale near Palermo. After manual harvesting, the wine is fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks; malolactic fermentation does not take place. The wine then matures for four months on the fine lees before being bottled. Inzolia is a migratory grape variety that has spread around the Mediterranean, in Sicily, Sardinia, on the islands of Elba and Giglio, as always brought there by the sea-traveling Greeks. This grape variety loves a warm and breezy climate and, when vinified as a single varietal, produces full-bodied wines that can withstand several years of ageing. The typical Sicilian aromas are very characteristic. Dining recommendation for the Inzolia from Sallier de La Tour A white wine from Sicily for many occasions, which is also wonderful to enjoy in late summer. It goes well with fish starters, pasta with seafood or a plate of spaghetti alla carbonara, and cheese. Awards for the Inzolia Sicilia DOC from Sallier de la Tour Gambero Rosso: 1 glass for 2014
