Cygnus Blend Sicilia DOC - Tenuta RegalealiThe Cygnus Sicilia DOC from Tenuta Regaleali by Tasca d'Almerita would certainly have appealed to Richard Wagner. And not just because he indirectly gave his name to this full-bodied and elegant Sicilian red wine. The Cygnus from Tenuta Regaleali has a dark ruby red color. A complex bouquet unfolds on the nose, with scents of licorice and tree bark, followed by blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and cherries, tobacco and chocolate. On the palate, this beautiful red wine from Tasca impresses with its balanced structure and full body, finely polished, beautifully integrated tannins and pleasant natural acidity. The long, persistent finish is characterized by fruity richness, harmony and spice Vinification of the Cygnus Sicilia from Tenuta Regaleali The grape varieties Nero d'Avola (55-60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (40-45%) are combined in a cuvée for this red wine. After being harvested separately, the two grape varieties are traditionally vinified separately at a controlled temperature in red, with maceration on the skins and complete malolactic fermentation. The two musts are then blended and matured in French oak barrels from Troncais and Allier, 30% new barrels, 70% second and third use barrels, for a period of 14 months. Bottling is followed by a further 4 months of ageing in the bottle. The name Cygnus was inspired by Richard Wagner and the swan that swam in the castle pond of the Tasca d'Almerita estate. The composer was a guest of the Tasca family in Sicily in 1881 when he was working on the completion of his opera Parzival. A clear homage to the great German musician, a wine with a Sicilian heart and international character, with finesse, elegance, sweetness and complexity. Recommendation for the Cygnus Sicilia DOC from Tasca d'Almerita Enjoy this characterful red from Sicily with pasta with strong sauces, tasty meat dishes, red meat, game and spicy cheeses. A wine that is also suitable as a soloist for an evening with friends or by the fireplace, perhaps accompanied by the sounds of Wagner's Parzival.
