Kirschgarten Weißburgunder Großes Gewächs - KnipserKnipser's Kirschgarten Weißburgunder Großes Gewächs enters the glass with brilliant citrus yellow and platinum hues. The first nose of this top pinot shows lemon zest, crisp fresh, still somewhat green Gallia melon, mirabelle plum, ripe Reinette and further yellow stone fruit. Fine hay, delicate nuances of apricot and kumquat and almondy-nutty hints perfectly round out the elegant bouquet of the Weißburgunder Großes Gewächs from the Laumersheimer Kirschgarten. On the palate, Knipser's Großes VDP Gewächs from the Kirschgarten starts with a firm, taut but absolutely not edgy structure. Mineral notes, a fine acidity and once again lots of yellow stone fruit characterize the taste of this exceptional Weissburgunder. Rightly a masterpiece and often awarded as the best Pinot Blanc in Germany. Vinification of the Knipser Pinot Blanc Grosses Gewächs from the Cherry Orchard The grapes for this noble Palatinate Pinot Blanc come from the top vineyard Kirschgarten in Laumersheim. This VDP (Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter - Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates) grand vineyard was originally owned by the Nonnenhof, an estate of the Kirschgarten Monastery in Worms. The first documented mention of viticulture im Kirschgarthen can be found dated 1654. A particularly favorable microclimate, created by the height of the Orlenberg to the west, is characterized by protection from cold westerly winds and precipitation. A dense loess loam soil with good water-holding capacity determines the overlay of the cherry orchard, while limestone rock is present in the subsoil. All in all, a first-class Burgundy site. After the selective hand harvest of the grapes for the Knipser Weißburgunder Großes Gewächs from the Kirschgarten, maceration and fermentation take place, as well as the subsequent aging in traditional half-barrels (600 l volume) and in Tonneaux (500 l). Food recommendation for the Kirschgarten Weißburgunder GG from Knipser This elegant and wonderfully distinctive Pinot Blanc from the Palatinate is perfect with fish, poultry, white meats and light pasta sauces.
