TD-9 - Shafer VineyardsThe TD-9 from Shafer Vineyards is a gorgeous red wine from California, vinified from Merlot (56%), Cabernet Sauvignon (28%) and Malbec (16%). This wine shines in the glass in a dense purple color. The nose reveals powerful aromas of red juicy fruits (especially strawberry and currant), floral hints of lavender underpinned by herbs. The palate is indulged by ripe blackberry, dried cherry and licorice. Contributing to the harmonious complexity is a wonderful slate minerality. The body is powerful with ripe tannin and elegant acidity. The finish is convincing with its wonderful length. Vinification of the Shafer TD-9 The grapes for this red wine come from the Sunspot, John's Folly, Venado Ilegal and Firebreak sites in the Stag's Leap District. After the grapes are carefully harvested by hand, they are carefully selected in the Shafer Vineyards winery. The mash is then fermented in stainless steel tanks. For a round, harmonious overall impression, this red wine is aged for 20 months in French oak barriques. Food recommendation for the TD-9 from Shafer Enjoy this dry red wine from California with dark meat dishes, such as roast venison with cranberries and potatoes, lamb in a rosemary coat or with classic ratatouille.
