The lively, fragrant nose of this red wine cuvée of Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela and other grape varieties convinces with fresh, deep and very intense aromas of wild berries, juicy blackberries and some plum. Sweet spices and tart tea leaf blend harmoniously with the balsamic character of the Fabulous Douro Tinto. A nice, lively fruit acidity and soft tannins complete the balanced palate sensation. With the Fabelhaft Tinto, the exterior of the red wine bottle is remarkable in addition to the contents. For this, Dirk Niepoort chose a story by Wilhelm Busch, currently that of the raven Hans Huckebein . Huckebein's life comes to a bad end, not least due to the consumption of alcohol, and has coined the term unlucky raven to this day. Fables like those of Huckebein are the reason why Niepoort gave this wine series the name Fabelhaft - and they taste like it! With the Fabelhaft Tinto , Dirk Niepoort has proven that characterful red wines from Portugal are possible at a fair price. Vinification of the Fabulous Tinto The harvest starts at the beginning of September, and the grapes for the Fabelhaft Douro wines are harvested primarily with a focus on freshness, acidity and fruit. Especially overripe grapes should be avoided for the Fabelhaft Douro Tinto. After the selection of the harvest in the cellar, the grapes were destemmed, crushed and fermented. After fermentation, the wine was aged in barriques of French oak (second racking) at 15% for 12 months.
