La Chapelle Blanc Saint Chinian AOC - Chapelle Saint Pierre

We always find it a challenge to create harmony between southern French and German wine culture when it comes to white wine. This vintage, we succeeded perfectly. We harvested part of the Grenache Blanc early, part a little later. The Roussanne was allowed to mature beautifully. One quarter was in a new 500-liter wooden barrel, three quarters in second and third-use barrels. The base wine, deliberately somewhat leaner due to the early harvest, rested on the stirred fine lees for several months. Creamy, with wonderfully integrated oak notes, fine yellow fruit, and a stimulating tension between fresh acidity and Mediterranean, yet unobtrusive, richness. The icing on the cake: color-coordinated wax instead of the foil capsule.
