Riesling halbtrocken - RotwildThe Rotwild Riesling from Peter Mertes in Rheinhessen offers a brilliant, light yellow color in the swirled glass. This single-varietal German wine shows wonderfully expressive notes of mirabelle plums, Nashi pears, nectarines and vineyard peaches in the glass. These are joined by hints of other fruits. The light-bodied Peter Mertes Rotwild Riesling shows us an incredibly fruit-driven palate, which is not without reason due to its residual sweet profile. On the palate, the texture of this fleet-footed white wine presents itself wonderfully light. Due to its vital fruit acidity, the Rotwild Riesling is exceptionally fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this wine from the wine-growing region of Rheinhessen finally inspires with beautiful length. Once again, hints of apricot and vineyard peach show. Vinification of the Rotwild Riesling by Peter Mertes This white wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Riesling. For this exceptionally elegant varietal wine from Peter Mertes, only the best grapes were brought in. After manual harvesting, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for several months on the fine lees before the wine is finally drawn off. After the wine is finished, the Rotwild Riesling is carefully harmonized. Food recommendation for the Rotwild Riesling by Peter Mertes This German white wine is best enjoyed well chilled at 8 - 10°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to vegetable salad with beetroot, asparagus salad with quinoa or roasted trout with ginger pear.
