99/100 Kerin O'Keefe, kerinokeefe.com, October 2022 Giuseppe Rinaldi’s debut vintage of 2019 Barolo Bussia is the biggest and best news out of Barolo in years. It’s absolutely fantastic, with aromas of forest floor, balsamic sensations of camphor and ripe berry fruit that segue into botanical herb, licorice and raspberry compote on the palate. Hailing from the storied heart of the cru, in the area once called Bussia Sottana, it boasts an age-worthy structure and a natural concentration thanks to the advanced age of the vines planted in the 1940s. It’s still very young with racy tension but already balanced, with a backbone of firm tannins and fresh acidity. Drink 2029–2049.
