Mostly vinified from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this red wine from South Africa delights with a deep and complex bouquet of black fruits, complemented by expressive spicy nuances. A magnificent wine from the Cape with considerable aging potential. The Five from Constantia Glen reveals itself with a full purple red and an enormous depth of color. The cuvée shows a very dark, almost opaque crimson core and a youthful purple rim in the glass. The aroma of Constantia Glen Five promises depth and complexity. The nose initially reveals aromas of fully ripe black cherry fruit and cassis that beautifully balance lush spice nuances. The ripe, dark fruit flavors of the bouquet fill the palate of Constantia Glen's Five, which is defined by incredible texture based on round, still persistent tannins. It is rounded off by a long, well-defined finish. Overall, the connoisseur is presented with a powerful yet elegant drop with depth, finesse, richness and concentration. Vinification of the Constantia Glen Five This cuvée is made from only the best grapes, with the current composition consisting of 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 17% Petit Verdot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% Malbec. The wine is aged exclusively in new French oak barriques for 18 months. The Five is bottled only lightly filtered. Food pairing for the Constantia Glen Five We recommend the Constantia Glen Five to oven braised stuffed quail wrapped with Parma ham in a port wine reduction. This red wine from South Africa also perfectly accompanies roasted fillet of beef with buttered mashed potatoes or lamb chops with cherry tomatoes in a spicy balsamic reduction.
