On the nose, this Pz Svirče red wine offers all kinds of blackberries, sour cherries and plums. As if that were not already impressive enough, further aromas such as forest floor, blackcurrant and redcurrant are added thanks to maturation in small wooden barrels. Pz Svirče Plavac Mediterano presents itself to the wine lover as wonderfully dry. This red wine never appears coarse or lean, but rather round and silky. Balanced and complex, this dense, velvety and fleshy red wine presents itself on the palate. On the finish, this red wine from the Dalmatian wine-growing region finally delights with a lovely length. Nuances of plum and sour cherry appear once again. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the clay-dominated soils are added. Vinification of Plavac Mediterano by Pz Svirče This wine clearly focuses on a single grape variety, namely Plavac Mali. Only flawless grapes were used for this exceptionally well-balanced varietal wine from Pz Svirče. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Dalmatia. Here the vines drive their roots deep into clay soils. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are quickly brought to the winery. There they are selected and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by 24 months of aging in barrique barrels made of oak. Food recommendation for Plavac Mediterano by Pz Svirče This red wine from Croatia is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as a companion to fried calf’s liver with apples, onions and balsamic sauce, boiled veal brisket with beans and tomatoes, or ossobuco.
