In Baden, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay, limestone and loess. The Markgräflerland Chardonnay SW is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this German wine breathes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The fact that Chardonnay grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate also has a considerable influence on the ripening of the vintage. This manifests itself, among other things, in particularly long and evenly ripened grapes and rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Then fermentation takes place in small wood at controlled temperatures.
