Borgo Conventi Isonzo del Friuli DOC Merlot 0,75 ℓ

This Merlot by Borgo Conventi comes from the Isonzo area of Friuli and is produced with Merlot grapes grown on flat vineyards characterized by clayey and skeletal soil. The microclimate is typical of the area, with mild winters and hot summers, protected from cold winds by the presence of the Alps to the north. The vinification involves fermentation with maceration on the skins in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 26-28°C for about 8-10 days. After fermentation it is always refined in steel, until the following spring when it is bottled. It has an intense ruby red color. The nose is inviting, with fruity notes of blackberry and small fruits, enriched by light hints of mint and licorice. On the palate it is frank and harmonious, with an elegant body and good persistence. This red wine pairs perfectly with game birds, pasta with red sauces and semi-mature cheeses.
