In Piedmont, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of sand, limestone, clay and marl. The grapes for this red wine from Italy are harvested exclusively by hand at optimum ripeness. After the grape harvest, the grapes are transported to the press house as quickly as possible. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small wooden vats at controlled temperatures. Once fermentation is complete, the Barbera d'Alba is aged for a further 6 months in oak barrels. The ageing in oak barrels is followed by considerable bottle ageing, which makes this red wine even more complex.
