Cuvée Sekt Extra Brut - Weingut WageckThe Cuvée Sekt Extra Brut from the Wageck winery in the German wine-growing region of Palatinate is a refreshing, lively and playful sparkling wine vinified from the grape varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. In the glass, this sparkling wine shines with a clear straw yellow color, sparkling reflections and a very fine perlage that gently rises to the surface in small strings of pearls. The nose is taken by aromas typical of champagne. Brioche notes are clearly in the foreground, followed by subtle hints of sun-ripened citrus. On the palate, this German sparkling wine has good acidity with a fine nerve that wonderfully underscores its playful, lively character. Vinification of the Wageck Cuvée Sparkling Wine The grapes (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier) for this sparkling wine grow in parcels of Bissersheim in the Goldberg and Held sites. The soils are characterized by calcareous clay marl, which overlies a massive limestone rock. The Chardonnay vines were planted in 1991, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier in 1995. The grapes are harvested by hand in vats at the beginning of September. Once the harvest arrives at Wageck's winery, the berries are gently pressed and only the forward run is used for this sparkling wine. The base wine for Cuvée Sekt Extra Brut is fermented in barrique barrels. This is followed by malolactic fermentation. Before this wine is bottled, it is stored for some time in the barriques. In the Sekthaus Volker Raumland, this sparkling wine is then finally fermented in the traditional bottle fermentation. this sparkling wine remains in the yeast storage for 36 months.
