This is a genuine quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler wines and, despite all its dryness, this South African enchants with the finest balance. Flavor does not necessarily require residual sugar. On the palate, this powerful red wine is characterized by an exceptionally dense texture. On the finish, this red wine from the Western Cape wine-growing region, which has good aging potential, captivates with remarkable length. Once again, echoes of blackberry and plum appear. Vinification of the Reyneke Reserve Red This powerful red wine from South Africa is produced biodynamically from the Syrah grape variety. After the grape harvest, the grapes are quickly brought to the winery. There they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in concrete and large wooden vats at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by several months of aging on the fine lees before the wine is finally bottled. Food pairing for Reyneke’s Reserve Red This South African should ideally be enjoyed at a tempered 15–18°C. It pairs perfectly as an accompanying wine with lamb ragout with chickpeas and dried figs, goose breast with ginger red cabbage and marjoram, or stuffed bell peppers.
