Schon im Bukett beeindruckt der Château Poujeaux 2016 mit einem einnehmend eleganten Bukett: Die vielschichtige, dunkle Beerenfrucht umspielt von floralen Noten und einem Hauch von Sandelholz. Am Gaumen geschmeidig im Auftakt, stoffig und komplex, mit klaren Aromen nach Brombeerkonfit, Cassis und Weichselkirsche. Im Hintergrund erdig-mineralische Akzente. Seidige Tannine führen in einen sehr langen Nachhall mit edler Mokkanote. Ein Wein für edle Mahlzeiten, der besonders gut zu Wildgeflügel passt. A standout during the en primeur tastings that lives up to its initial promise now it's in bottle. Strong, confident flavours show clear Médoc character, with dark berry fruits, silky tannins, great balance and freshness. Lots of life ahead of it. Decanter Blackberry, blueberry and orange-peel aromas follow through to a full body with a solid core of fruit and a fresh, tangy finish. The hazelnut and walnut undertones add to the complexity. James Suckling An outstanding Moulis made with consulting help from Stéphane Derenoncourt, the 2016 Château Poujeaux offers up a rock star, medium to full-bodied, layered profile as well as pretty notes of ripe black fruits, graphite, violets, and background oak. Give this sleeper 2-3 years of bottle age and it will impress for a decade or more. Jeb Dunnuck The 2016 Poujeaux is fabulous. Rich, deep and beautifully layered, it has a level of pure intensity I don't recall seeing in the past. Succulent red/bluish fruit and silky tannins add to the wine's considerable finesse. Racy and succulent to the core, yet still very much medium in body, the 2016 delivers the goods. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot.
