Kirchenstück GG Spätburgunder - Battenfeld-Spanier
The Kirchenstück vineyard is the flagship site in Hohen-Sülzen. It is a very old vineyard, documented even before the Thirty Years' War. Its original name was Griebelsteyn – and this onomatopoeic name is very fitting. The soil of the Kirchenstück consists of soft, calcareous stones that can be crumbled between the fingers. This Pinot Noir Grosses Gewächs is a tribute to H.O. Spanier's Wonnegau homeland. The Pliocene soils are extremely calcareous, and due to Hohen-Sülzen's location in a basin, daytime temperatures are always a bit higher than in our vineyards in Mölsheim or Flörsheim. Hohen-Sülzen lies in the so-called Eisbach Valley, and as the name suggests, the cold, low-mountain stream, which originates in the Donnersberg massif, exerts a considerable influence on the cooler nights. The difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures is greater in Hohen-Sülzen than in the other vineyard areas. As a result, the wines retain their freshness, elegance, and vibrant acidity despite the high grape ripeness.| Prijs |
