Cuvée X - KnipserThe Cuvée X from the house Knipser is a red wine of monumental size, which is so only found on the Atlantic in France. Probably the only German red wine that can compete with the growths from Pauillac, Margaux and Pomerol. The Knipser brothers knew exactly that this wine, made from various Cabernets and Merlot, will take you to the top of the wine league in the style of a Bordeaux. In the glass, Knipser Cuvée X comes with a dense ruby color and purple hues. The nose reveals unimagined power paired with a tart dark fruit and a multitude of spicy aromas such as cigar box, coffee, tobacco and spices alongside many types of red fruits. On the palate, this top cuvée from Knisper fully excites with never-ending length, a vital fruit acidity and harmonious tannins. Vinification of the Knipser Cuvée X The vinification of this cuvée is based exclusively on the most solid craftsmanship, coupled with unique climatic conditions and a subsoil, almost like in Bordeaux. Controlled idleness in the cellar brings the best result in the glass. All grape varieties grow on limestone soils and the grapes are destemmed before maceration, i.e. separated from the stalks. This results in a particularly fine tannin structure. Aging in 225-liter French oak barrels, with maturation of up to 24 months before bottling, results in long-lived and intensely fragrant wines. Cabernet Sauvignon makes up the bulk of Cuvée X, accounting for about 45% in the blend. About 33% is Merlot, complemented by 22% Cabernet Franc. Food recommendation for the Cuvée X from Knipser This Palatinate star is best enjoyed at a festively decorated table, with braised veal cheeks or an oven-cooked leg of lamb with Mediterranean vegetables and a hearty jus. This powerhouse also has no need to hide from short-roasted meats such as entrecote or filet.
