Abadia Retuerta Selección Especial is a refined and harmonious red wine from the Douro Valley, composed of a blend of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Petit Verdot. This perfect blend reflects the mastery and experience in selecting the best grapes from the vineyard, ensuring reliability and consistency of the terroir. The winemaking involves traditional fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, followed by 12 months of aging in French and American oak barriques. Selección Especial presents itself with a bright and deep red color. On the nose it is clean and fragrant, with an aromatic complexity that includes fruity notes of blackberry, red plum and figs, together with floral hints of wild rose and spicy notes of cloves and bay leaves. On the palate it is broad, lively and fresh, but also soft and velvety thanks to the fine and ripe tannins that envelop the palate. It has a long finish and promises to improve with time. This wine pairs perfectly with grilled red meat dishes.
