Avignonesi Desiderio Toscana IGT 0,75 ℓ

Desiderio comes exclusively from Merlot grapes from the vineyards of Greppo, La Selva and Le Badelle, owned by Avignonesi. It owes its name to a bull that lived on the Le Capezzina farm in Avignonesi over a hundred years ago and was the largest bull in Tuscany at that time. It is the result of only Merlot grapes harvested between the end of August and the first ten days of September. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature for 2-3 weeks. After the malolactic fermentation in wood, the wine ages for 20 months in partially new oak barrels. It is characterized by an intense ruby red color. The nose opens with inviting aromas of cherries and blackberries, enriched by pleasant hints of eucalyptus and mint. On the palate it is elegant, velvety and pleasantly persistent. The wine has a well structured and harmonious body, with a nice vibrant acidity. Perfect to accompany grilled red meats and game, it is ideal in combination with aged cheeses.
