Bruno Clavelier Vosne-Romanée Les Hautes Maizières Vieilles Vignes

Parcel of 48 ares of vines over 65 years old (massal selection). Close to the village, the parcel is located just below the 1er cru Les Suchots. Here, the limestone bedrock slopes down to Entroques limestone. The clay-loam soils are deeper (between 60 and 80 cm thick) than in other vosne-romanée “village” plots. Richer, they enable the vines to feed more easily. The plot is permanently grassed to encourage the roots to plunge down to the limestone substrate. On these clays, the wine is fleshier and more powerful. The tannins are more pronounced, with an architectural character that takes time to polish. Its texture is more solid than the estate's other vosne-romanée cuvées, adding extra body. Spicy notes often complement ripe fruit (cherry) and more Mediterranean scents (thyme, lavender, sage) characterize this cuvée. This wine should be kept for at least 5 to 7 years.
