Tertiär Grauer Burgunder - Weingut WageckThe Tertiary Pinot Gris from the Wageck winery in the German wine-growing region of Bissersheim in the Palatinate is a varietally pure, balanced and youthful white wine. In the glass, this wine shines a pale straw yellow with sparkling highlights. The somewhat restrained bouquet caresses the nose with aromas of sun-ripened citrus, juicy pineapple and subtle floral hints. On the palate, the flavors of the nose are joined by nutty tones. This white wine from Germany has a delicate melting texture and a wonderfully lively acidity that accompanies into the finish. Vinification of the Pinot Gris Wageck Tertiary The plots for this Pinot Gris are located in the Bissersheimer Held site at an elevation of about 150 meters. The soil has a thick layer of loess with a light sand content and many pebbles over limestone rock. In Bütten, the grapes are carefully harvested by hand at the beginning of September. Once the grapes arrive at the Wageck winery, the berries remain on the skins for 3 hours. Then 80% of this white wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks - the remaining 20% is fermented spontaneously in barriques and half-barrels. This white wine undergoes complete malolactic fermentation.
