The nose is dominated by intense notes of dried fruit, with apricots and dried mango and papaya slices first coming to mind. Hints of nougat, roasted almond and candied citrus complete the bouquet. On the palate, the Ambré Hors d'Age first delights with gorgeous, juicy lushness, excellently balanced sweetness and a vital fruit acidity that offers a worthy counterpart to the sweetness and gives the wine plenty of verve. Mineral notes, some roasted coffee, brioche warm from the oven and some lavender and rosemary complement the tropical fruit flavors on the palate and accompany into an exceptional finish. Vinification of the Lafage Ambré Hors d'Age This wine, allowed to age for many years in oak barrels, is a prime example of the potential that the Rivesaltes AOP has to offer. Vinified from different Grenache varieties, Ambré Hors d'Age is obtained from vines that are on average 40 years old. After the grapes are pre-selected, fermentation takes place followed by aging in barrels for several years.
