Zeller Schwarzer Hergott Riesling - Weingut Schwedhelm

The Zeller Schwarze Herrgott vineyard is one of Germany's oldest and most prestigious sites. At just 9.8 hectares, it's a small, south-facing, steep slope with a gradient of over 30%. The soils, composed of solid limestone and clay marl, along with historic limestone walls and a pre-Christian prayer niche, lend the wine a uniquely distinctive terroir. The grapes were selected in two passes, hand-harvested, and after an 18-hour maceration period, spontaneously fermented partly in oak barrels and partly in stainless steel tanks. The wine then matured on its fine lees until June. The nose reveals dark herbal spices with hints of green apple and lemon, accompanied by pronounced mineral freshness. On the palate, this Riesling impresses with vibrant, harmoniously integrated acidity, subtle salinity, and great depth, structure, and elegant length.
