Hero Rotweincuvée - Weingut WageckWith the Hero red wine cuvée , the Wageck winery would like to recall the tradition of the great Palatinate red wines. Already 100 years ago, the Portugieser vines from the Bissersheimer Berg were the red wine heroes of the Unterhaardt. The supposedly small, underestimated variety with low yields and gnarled root-left vines produced perfectly ripe grapes . In the glass, the cuvée presents a beautiful ruby red color with cherry red highlights. The nose is enchanted by a fruity and spicy bouquet. A basket of berries is revealed - ranging from raspberries, blackberries and blueberries to currants - perfectly underlined by a nice herbal spiciness. On the palate, this German red wine presents itself wonderfully balanced, with silky texture and pleasantly full body. Vinifcation of the Wageck Hero This red wine cuvée is vinified from the Portugieser and Dornfelder grape varieties. The vines all grow in plots in Bissersheim. The soils are rich in limestone with some sandy gravelly soils over limestone rock. The harvest takes place from the end of September to the beginning of October. Once the grapes arrive at Wageck's winery, the 4-week fermentation process on the skins begins. Afterwards, this cuvée rounds off harmoniously for 12 months in large wooden barrels.
