Alpha Merlot - Montes

Launched in 1987 as Cabernet Sauvignon and the first Chilean premium wine, Montes Alpha now stands for a whole range of premium wines. Montes Alpha Merlot comes from two Montes wineries in the Colchagua Valley: the Merlot from the weathered granite floors in the El Arcángel de Marchigüe winery, the small proportion of Cabernet Franc from the Finca de Apalta. Only the best grapes are selected, gently fermented and the wine is finished for twelve months in French barriques and concrete. Juicy aromas of ripe dark plums, berries, sweet spices and a hint of mint blend with elegant barrique notes of cedar wood and vanilla. Perfectly balanced, full-bodied and smooth with gently ripened tannins and lively freshness. Wonderful to enjoy now - or over the next 8-10 years.
