Roagna Barolo Pira

Our vineyard sits on the side of Serralunga d’Alba and Perno and is Southeast facing. Pira contains specific characteristics due to the slow disintegration of the rocks of Castiglione. Our family purchased this vineyard in 1989. We have 4.88.30 Hectares (12.06 Acres) planted to vines which is the largest single parcel we own. The land is protected at the top by the Rocche of Castiglione and downstream from the forest with a stream flowing from Bussia of Monforte d’Alba. The habitat is ideal for our concept of respecting the land and the life of the soil. There are 6 unique micro parcels depending on the composition of the terrain which ranges from limestone marl Roca to blue stone. The vines for this wine are between 25 and 50 years of age. The roots are sourced by used the massage wood system by using only clippings that we have pruned from the Pira vineyard. (Roagna) Die Azienda I Paglieri liegt etwas versteckt im unteren Teil des Örtchens Barbaresco. In der vierten Generation führt heute der junge und extrem sympathische Luca die Geschicke des Hauses, jedoch immer in enger Zusammenarbeit mit seinem Vater Alfredo. In den Weinbergen wird nachhaltig gearbeitet. Die Vinifikation und der Ausbau der Weine erfolgen äußerst traditionell für einen langen Zeitraum in großen Holzfässern. Barrique war nie ein Thema für die Familie und wird es auch nie werden. Für Luca ist es selbstverständlich, seine großen Weine erst dann auf den Markt zu bringen, wenn diese eine erste Trinkreife erreicht haben, und nicht, wenn der Markt danach ruft. Dies erklärt die fantastische Balance zwischen der eleganten Tannin-Struktur, dem festen Säuregerüst und der feinen, reifen Frucht.
