92/100 vinous Moderately saturated medium red. Aromas of redcurrant, licorice and underbrush are joined by a leathery nuance as the wine opens in the glass. Then complex, subtle and expressive in the mouth, boasting noteworthy precision to the flavors of raspberry, crushed rock, orange zest, smoke, spices and meat. Dense, sappy and voluminous Nuits-Saint-Georges; airy and classically dry. Finishes broad and very long, with an even dusting of tannins and a note of noble rusticity. This has turned out very well. (Stephan Tanzer, vinous.com) The Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier cru « La Richemone » comes from the most southern part of the plot which was planted in 1902. This plot shows a unique plant capital as well as a rare soil, consisting of both gravel which ensures perfect drainage and rooting depth and of a clay-limestone soil. The richness of this soil gives a a rounded wine of great freshness revealing aromas of spices and silky tannins. The other part of the plot with more stones gives the wine good mineral content and a lot of aroma. Both wines express the epitome and the authenticity of their terroir.
