Pinot Noir Carneros - Schug WineryThe Carneros Pinot Noir from Schug Winery enters the glass with a bright ruby red color and smells wonderfully complex of sour cherries, strawberries, cassis and other red and black fruits. Nuances of light tobacco, soft leather, cedar, cloves and new oak complete the bouquet. On the palate, this red wine starts pleasantly fruity. The fruit is followed by a lush, spicy texture and a long, velvety finish. The vital fruit acidity gives this Pinot a wonderful freshness and very good aging potential. The wine is a pleasure to drink now, but will develop excellently over the next 5-10 years. Vinification of the Pinot Noir Carneros from Schug After careful hand harvesting, this red wine is fermented for 6-8 days in stainless steel tanks. During this process, the marc cap is submerged three times a day. For malolactic fermentation, this wine is aged in oak barrels for 2 months. This is followed by wood aging in French barriques for 9 months (medium toast and 20% new barrels). Food recommendation for the Carneros Pinot Noir Enjoy this grandiose red wine from Sonoma County, California, with cozy barbecues of beef tenderloin and corn on the cob, duck breast with dumplings and blue cabbage, or with mushroom pans.
