Cultivation and vinification of the Cobos Felino Malbec Felino Malbec is made from 100% Malbec grapes grown in the vineyards of Luján de Cuyo, Maipù and Valle de Uco, at an altitude between 700 and 1200 meters above sea level. The climate in this region is dry, with low rainfall. However, the 2014-2105 grape-growing year was a somewhat more difficult one, with more rain and higher humidity than usual, so the harvest had to be scheduled almost a month earlier than usual. Malbec grapes could be harvested between mid-March and mid-April. Fermentation took place on selected yeasts in stainless steel tanks holding between 8 and 17 tons, followed by bottling in February 2016 without clarification and unfiltered. The wines of the 2015 harvest are characterized more than usual by the terroir. They show elegance, medium-bodied, delicacy and low alcohol, but at the same time lively, very accentuated fruit notes, aromatic richness and asbalanced acidity. The Felino Line of Viña Cobos The special characteristic of the wines of the Felino line is their freshness and accentuated fruitiness. The grapes used for it come from different vineyards in the Mendoza region and each area highlights the fullness and typical character of its grape variety. The range is composed of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay, wines of remarkable intensity and brilliance, supported by lively acidity and balanced and gentle tannins. They are the result of patient and long-lasting work and studies of winemaker Paul Hobbs, owner of Viña Cobos, on the terroir, to develop other suitable vineyards and sites in the region of Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco.
