Late Bottled Vintage Port - NiepoortNiepoort's Late Bottled Vintage reveals a wonderfully intense ruby-purple color. This port wine is vinified from the grape varieties Sousão, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Cão, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa, Touriga Nacional and other red grape varieties. The bouquet is dominated by multilayered aromas of red cherry fruit and spices, complemented by a delicate hint of pepper and hints of dark chocolate. The wonderfully concentrated, voluminous, but at the same time soft and elegant port reveals firm tannins. The beautiful acid structure gives this port freshness and balance. This Port is rounded off by a pleasant, long finish. Vinification of the Niepoort Late Bottled Vintage The manually harvested grapes of the Niepoort winery come from the vineyards of the Cima Corgo region in the Douro Valley. They are first carefully selected, then pressed and the resulting mash is foot tamped and fermented with the stems in traditional lagares. Subsequently, this Port is aged for four years in large oak barrels and vats in the cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. Food recommendation for the Port Niepoort LBV We recommend this Port with roasted spicy meats such as veal, lamb, pepper steak or game, with chocolate desserts, especially with dark chocolate and with cheese (cheddar, gouda, brie, blue cheese).
