Chardonnay - SteenbergThe Sphynx Chardonnay from Steenberg is now only called Chardonnay - but is as classy as ever. In the glass, the Steenberg Chardonnay presents a bright golden yellow color. To the nose, this Steenberg white wine presents all manner of pomelo, lemons, morello cherries, black cherries and kumquats. As if that wasn't already impressive, juniper, sun-warmed rock and garrigue join the mix. This dry white wine from Steenberg is just the thing for wine lovers who prefer to drink bone dry. The Chardonnay already comes very close to this, as it was pressed with just 3.8 grams of residual sugar. On the palate, the texture of this balanced white wine is wonderfully silky and creamy. Due to its present fruit acidity, the Chardonnay reveals itself to be fantastically fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this white wine from the wine-growing region of the Western Cape finally inspires with good length. Again, hints of lime and lemon appear. Vinification of the Steenberg Chardonnay The balanced Chardonnay from South Africa is a single-varietal wine, vinified from the Chardonnay grape variety. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly taken to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Subsequently, fermentation takes place in the cellar at controlled temperatures. Food recommendation for Steenberg Chardonnay This South African white wine is best enjoyed moderately chilled at 11 - 13°C. It is perfect as an accompanying wine to spicy curry with lamb, Thai cucumber salad or baked feta cheese parcels. Awards for Steenberg's Chardonnay John Platter - 4 stars for 2019
