JASSARTE Toscana Rosso IGT - Guado al MeloThe JASSARTE Toscana Rosso IGT from Guado al Melo presents itself in a dense ruby red in the glass. The very elegant bouquet reveals a complex spectrum of aromas reminiscent of red fruits, black cherries, red berries and plums, but also incense, spices, white pepper, mint and tobacco, fragrances that open up more and more the longer the wine remains in the glass. On the palate it shows a lot of freshness, fully ripe fruit, balanced texture and present tannins, elegant and dense. The finish is very long, very persistent and promising. Vinification of the JASSARTE Toscana Rosso from Podere Guado al Melo An exceptional, rare wine that is only produced in the best vintages! This red wine from Bolgheri is made from 30 grape varieties from the Mediterranean and the Caucasus. All the grape varieties are grown together in the Campo Giardino vineyard of the Guado al Melo winery and harvested in 6 to 7 stages, depending on the degree of ripeness. The grapes are vinified together without any additions or corrections that could alter the original character of the grapes in any way. After fermentation, the wine is matured for 24 months in used barriques in 2nd and 3rd use on the fine lees. After bottling, the unfiltered wine matures for a further 12 months in the bottle. The wine can be stored for 10 years or longer. With this wine, Gaudo al Melo has revived an ancient tradition of planting different grape varieties together in a single vineyard. What makes this wine is not so much the individual grapes, but the vineyard as a unique, incomparable terroir. JASSARTE stands for the origin of viticulture and its history, from the Caucasus to the Mediterranean, from the Orient to the Occident. According to Herodotus, the ideal border and point of contact between two worlds was marked by two rivers, Hindus and Jassarte, represented in the label by two Etruscan satyrs reading wine.
