AMARANTA Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOP 1,5 l Magnum - Tenuta UlisseThe AMARANTA di Ulisee Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC from Tenuta Ulisse is a cru. This powerful Italian red wine flows into the glass in a very full and elegant ruby red, on the nose it shows very complex and generous aromas, with hints of plums, cherry jam and nuances of tobacco with a spicy finish. On the palate, this impressive Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is beautifully balanced, complex with pleasing tannins that are well integrated into the structure. Full-bodied and powerful, excellently balanced alcoholic potential. Long, warm and opulent finish. A wine of undisputed class, a wonderful tribute full of love and respect to the most important red wine grape in Abruzzo. The excellent price-performance ratio of AMARANTA di Ulisse, as with the other wines from Tenuta Ulisse, is worthy of note. Vinification of the Amaranta di Ulisse from Tenuta Ulisse The grapes for this cru Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grow in very old vineyards on equally old vines that have been able to dig their roots into the calcareous, fine clay soil for an average of 30-35 years. The very warm environment and low rainfall as well as strong fluctuations between day and night temperatures ensure that the grapes can ripen well without losing their acidity. After the highly selective manual harvest (some of the grapes are picked overripe), the grapes are crushed in the Tenuta Ulisse winery, macerated and the must fermented at a controlled temperature. The Amaranta then matures for 9 to 12 months in high-quality French and American oak barriques. The autochthonous Montepulciano d'Abruzzo has experienced a real renaissance in recent years. Not much is known about the origins of this dark grape. For a long time it was attributed to the Sangiovese clone group. What is certain today is that it is a completely independent autochthonous grape variety. It is mainly cultivated in the Abruzzo region and in other regions of central and southern Italy. Thanks to some producers and oenologists and their conscientious work, the Montepulciano grape is experiencing a renaissance as one of the red grape varieties of the highest quality and excellence. Wine recommendation for the AMARANTA Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Enjoy this full-bodied dry red wine with succulent pasta dishes with strong red sauces, roasts of red and dark meat, game and mature, spicy cow's and sheep's cheese. And why not, of course, with pizza with rich toppings. The AMARANTA di Ulisse tastes best when drunk at a temperature of 18°C, i.e. not too warm.
