In the Ahr, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay, slate, silicate rock and loess soil. Moreover, the grapes of this top wine from Weinhaus Nelles do not grow in the flat land, but dig their roots into the subsoil in steep slopes. The steep slope cultivation ensures that even in cooler wine-growing regions with less long vegetation periods, the vines receive a maximum of sun.
