Tawny Port - NiepoortNiepoort’s Tawny is vinified from Sousão, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Cão, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa, Touriga Nacional and other Portuguese red grape varieties. In the glass, this Port wine shimmers with a brilliant, vibrant brick-red color. On the bouquet, fine nutty aromas merge with intense notes of dried fruit. On the palate, this Port is wonderfully balanced with a young, fruity character. A long, expressive finish rounds it off. Production method of Port Tawny Niepoort The grapes for this Port come from the single vineyards Vinha da Pisca, Vale do Pinhão and Ferrão. The vines are over 30 years old and grow on schist soils. The hand-picked grapes are first pressed and the resulting must is largely fermented in traditional lagares. Afterwards, this Port wine matures on average for three and a half years in small oak barrels in the Niepoort cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia.
