Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Ried Kellerberg Schmidl

Finally a Veltliner in organic quality from a location as renowned as the Kellerberg in Dürnstein! In the premium area in the Wachau, extremely ripe grapes and botrytis are often used, but this is definitely not the case here. Fresh, golden yellow color with greenish reflections, notes of a wide range of yellow fruits such as mirabelle plum, Reneklode and vineyard peach, with some honey and a fine creaminess, supported by a good acid structure and warm primary rock minerals. It is not uncommon to look in vain for the “pepper” often associated with Grüner Veltliner in the wines from the Wachau, but here it has a nice, refreshing spiciness with grated white pepper, mace blossom and wild herbs.
