Ultra Cabernet Sauvignon - Kaiken Wines

The name says it all: KAIKEN Ultra is anything but ordinary. This single-varietal Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Vistalba in Luján de Cuyo. It's actually a Malbec stronghold, but Cabernet also loves the cool, sunny 1050 m altitude. The grapes are hand-picked, rigorously sorted, and only the best are fermented in concrete tanks. Forty-five percent of the wines are aged for twelve months in French oak (one-third new barrels). Then all batches are blended back to the Ultra Final Blend, bottled, and aged for another six months in the bottle before the Cabernet is released. Garnet red with an intense bouquet of dark fruits, pepper, and delicate oak spice. On the palate, it's clearly structured, very long, smooth, and full-bodied with rich fruit, ripe tannins, and gentle freshness.
