Quercegobbe Toscana IGT - Petra
Quercegobbe Toscana IGT - PetraThe powerful Quercegobbe Toscana from the Petra estate pours into the glass with a dense purple-red color. After the first swirl, this red wine reveals a high density and richness, which is evident in the pronounced church windows on the rim of the glass. The first nose of the Quercegobbe Toscana presents nuances of damson, plums and forest fruit jam. Notes from barrel aging such as black tea, oriental spices and dark chocolate join the fruity hints of the bouquet. The Quercegobbe Toscana from Petra is the right choice for all those who prefer as little residual sweetness in wine as possible. At the same time, it never appears meager or austere, as one might naturally expect in the icon wine segment. Powerful and complex, this mellow, velvety and dense red wine presents itself on the palate. Thanks to the moderate acidity, Quercegobbe Toscana caresses the palate with a velvety feel, without lacking freshness at the same time. On the finish, this red wine from the wine-growing region of Tuscany ultimately delights with considerable length. Once again, hints of morello cherries and raisins appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the sand- and clay-dominated soils are also evident. Vinification of Petra Quercegobbe Toscana The basis for the powerful Quercegobbe Toscana from Tuscany is grapes of the Merlot variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Tuscany. Here the vines drive their roots deep into soils of sand, limestone, clay and marl. It is obvious that Quercegobbe Toscana is also shaped by the climatic and stylistic factors of Toscana IGT. In the best sense of the word, this Italian can be described as an Old World wine that presents itself as extraordinarily complex. The development of the harvest for this Merlot wine is influenced to a considerable extent by the climate of the growing region. In Tuscany the grapes thrive in a warm climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly well-ripened grapes and a relatively high must weight. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly brought to the press house. There they are selected and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wooden vats at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the Quercegobbe Toscana is aged for another 36 months in oak barrels. The barrel aging is followed by extensive bottle aging, which makes this red wine even more complex. Food recommendation for Quercegobbe Toscana from Petra This red wine from Italy is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is perfectly suited as an accompanying wine to boiled veal topside with beans and tomatoes, duck breast with sugar snap peas or vegetable couscous with beef meatballs.
