In the glass, this Madeira shimmers a dark amber with golden highlights. The nose reveals intense notes of nuts, syrup and subtle hints of vanilla. The flavors of the nose are also reflected on the palate. The full body is wonderfully rounded and balanced with a wonderful interplay of sweetness and acidity. The finish has a good, pleasant length. Vinification of the Justino Henriques Malvasia Malvasia grapes grow at an altitude of 700 meters on 20-25 year old vines on the Portuguese island of Madeira. After harvesting and selection, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks under temperature control. The aging of this wine in used wooden barrels is about 10 years. This Madeira is blended from several wines, all of which are self-made through the individual vinification of white grapes and which have spent at least 10 years in oak barrels before bottling.
