Graach Himmelreich Riesling GG - Weingüter Wegeler

2023 marked the long-awaited premiere of this GG, for which we had patiently waited ten years after replanting. Very bright and clear on the nose, the fruit still firm rather than overripe, juicy, very finesse, and powerfully mineral. Location & Terroir: In the VDP.GROSSEN LAGE® HIMMELREICH vineyard, some of the vines are still trained using the traditional single-stake method. The vineyard faces south-southwest to southwest, exposed to the reflective river, which also protects against frost due to the water's heat retention, while simultaneously being sheltered from the wind by the Moselle Valley. The soil consists of easily warmed blue and grey slate. The slope is crisscrossed by water veins, supplying the vines with water year-round. The vineyards lie at an altitude of 110 to 260 meters and have a moderate gradient of 45 to 65 percent. History: The name Himmelreich likely comes from Celtic and means small hill .
