The Pecorino grape variety is cultivated mainly in central Italy in the Marche and Abruzzo growing regions along the eastern Adriatic coast, as well as in Umbria and Lazio. The vineyard area across Italy had shrunk to a manageable 213 hectares. With the growing popularity of regional, indigenous varieties, it is now being planted more frequently again.
